Velour Live Music Gallery
Tonight, March 8th at 6PM, Velour Live Music Gallery will participate directly in the International Women’s Day festivities. The venue will open its doors for a free reception and live music from local artist and ethereal violinist-vocalist, Alyssa Pyper. All money donated during the event will be given to United Way, who will use it to support the Utah Department of Corrections Bedtime Stories program. The program allows incarcerated mothers and grandmothers to record stories or songs for their children and grandchildren.
Friday, March 11th, Festive People will be taking the stage. They’ll be joined by both Kissed Out (feat. Elaine Bradley of Neon Trees) and Kindred Dead. Tickets are $8 online and at the door (cash only). Doors open at 8PM.
Saturday, March 12th, Quiet House will be putting on an intimate seated show. Montana’s Flannel Graph and Grizzly Goat will join them. Tickets are $8 online and at the door (cash only). Doors open at 8PM.
Muse Music
Tonight at 8PM, Tri Polar Bear and Telesomniac will be taking the Muse stage in support of Purple, a punk rock band from Texas. Tickets are $7 at the door.
From Thursday, March 10th to Saturday, March 12th, Muse will be hosting their 2016 Annual Songwriter Showdown. Thursday features Mel Soul, Doug Lane, Paul Travis, Michael Barrow, Rob Tanner, and Kylie Kap. Friday features Andrew Wiscombe, Chris Hurley, Taylor Woodward, Tate Sexton, James Junius, and Katie Mahree. Both nights will feature four competitive rounds. Each songwriter will play one song per round. Judges cut a songwriter at the end of each round. The top two songwriters from each night will move on to the finals on Saturday. Judges will crown a winner Saturday night. It’s gonna be intense. Admission to the Muse Songwriter Showdown is $5 on both Thursday and Friday night, and $7 on Saturday. Doors open at 8PM every night.
Gezzo Hall
On Saturday March 12th, Cinders will headline with Comanche, The Indigo, and Sam Cooley in support. Doors open at 7PM. $7 for general admission. $12 VIP.
Gezzo Hall is also making preparations for the Utah Valley Acoustic Competition. Performance slots are still open. If you are an artist interested in performing March 25-26 for a $500 prize, click here to submit your work for consideration.
The Wall
Wednesday, March 9th, The Wall will host BYU’s monthly Acoustic Explosion. The show will feature There She Goes, Taylor Woodward of Dry Erase Tracks, and Wish Granted Records’ Belle Jewel and Michael Barrow. The show starts at 7PM. Free admission.
