Drew Danburry Comes to Muse Music as Part of Fall Tour MMXVI

Drew Danburry is touring again, and it’s bringing him to Muse Music.

By Zach Collier

Tonight prolific singer/songwriter and popular Provo barber Drew Danburry is passing through Provo to perform at Muse Music. The performance is part of his Fall Tour MMXVI with Chico, California’s Aubrey Debauchery and Oxford, Mississippi’s Ben Ricketts. By the end, the tour will hit 23 venues in 12 states over the course of a month. At this point, the tour is about half way through.

Danburry will be performing songs from his “triple cassette album of anti-corporate jingles” and a new vinyl record. The triple cassette album, released under the pseudonym The Funny Uncles, is simply titled Writin’ Songs. It examines issues like the ingredients of Kraft cheese, caffeine addiction, frustration with Netflix’s on demand selection, and Google’s power over information. The album was released September 19th and is available on Bandcamp.

Danburry’s more traditional music has been referred to by Daytrotter as “humble and radiant.” Danburry’s power lies in his ability to set literally anything to music. Writin’ Songs is lyrically and structurally very Avante-garde, but musically still accessible. Goofy, but accessible. Other projects Danburry is a part of demonstrate that he’s capable of writing songs with more traditional, mainstream appeal and structure. His project, Bartholin, recently released a new EP with Tree Machine Records and is a good source of that kind of material.

The show at Muse Music is tonight at 8PM. Tickets are available on 24tix.com for $7Batty Blue, Aubrey Debauchery, Jay Arner, and The Hulagans will be joining Danburry on the bill. Make sure to like Drew Danburry on Facebook, and watch the music video for “Kraft” below!
