Solarsuit has recently been making some waves in the valley. After returning home from LDS missions, Solarsuit has jumped right back into the music scene and picked up right where they left off.
The music video for their newest single, “Just for the Thrill,” grabbed some serious attention at the end of 2016 – reaching more than 50,000 views on YouTube. They may be considered “youngsters” in this scene, but are definitely not novices when it comes to writing and performing. Their full-length album, Alpha – Omega, was released in 2014 before the band took a two year hiatus. Listening to their earlier releases proves that this band was serious about the music business from the get go. Songs like “Inferno” and “Twin Tropic” give off a super rad synth-pop vibe, but still give you the head-banging sensation of a more alternative sound. Front-man Logan Nelson’s vocals are powerful and mature – always cutting through the mix to deliver an edgy Dan Reynolds-esque sound.
Their newest release, “Just for the Thrill” exceeded my expectations. Don’t get me wrong. I had heard great things about Solarsuit, but this video was beyond great. It was superb. “Just for the Thrill” completely captures and embodies your typical high school rebellious phase, and if it didn’t quite capture it for you personally, then you wished it did. Its nostalgia is contagious and really takes you back to the good ol’ days. The song itself is definitely catchy, but is enhanced by the video’s incredible cinematography.
Solarsuit has big plans and a big sound. These boys are the real deal, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing some great work from them in the near future. Until then, follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
