Journey is a band that just won’t quit. First formed in 1973 by former members of Santana and the Steve Miller Band, they’ve released music and toured regularly for decades despite numerous personnel changes (most notably the replacement of lead singer Steve Perry with the incredible Arnel Pineda). The result? 25 gold and platinum albums, 19 top 40 singles, and over 65 million units sold. This year marks 50 years since the band’s inception.
Their latest album, entitled Freedom, dropped last year. The band is currently touring in support of the record. What better way to celebrate Freedom than to play America’s Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah?
Journey will headline Stadium of Fire 2023 at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, July 1. This marks the second time the band has headlined the event – the first time in 2015. The concert will be televised to more than 100 countries by way of the American Forces Network.

What is billed as “the nation’s largest stadium fireworks spectacle” will close out the night. This concert and firework spectacle is just one of many events that make up the multi-day celebration that occurs in Provo every year. Between the Grand Parade and Freedom Days vendor market in downtown Provo, the Balloon Fest, and multiple galas and awards ceremonies, it’s estimated that half a million people attend Freedom Festival events every year in the Provo/Orem area.
Tickets for the event will go on sale at stadiumoffire.com on March 24. Check out “Don’t Give Up On Us” from Journey’s Freedom below.
