The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is providing an opportunity for talented musicians and performers who are members of the Church to be considered for various projects, events, and productions through their talent database. This talent database serves as a comprehensive list of professionals and volunteers with skills in acting, music, and related areas, allowing Church producers to find suitable individuals for music-related endeavors such as projects, events, broadcasts, and performances.

The talent database is accessible in multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. By including details about their skills, experience, contact information, and geographic location, artists can enable producers to identify and connect with them when their specific talents are needed.

Individuals who create a profile on the Church’s Music and Casting web page can learn about casting opportunities and other chances to contribute their creative abilities to church music projects, events, and productions. The Church’s music division aims to expand its pool of potential musicians by encouraging members from all over the world to submit their information to the talent database for future consideration.

In addition to performers, the Church also welcomes applicants with non-performance music skills, such as transcription, music notation software proficiency, text editing and translation, audio recording, and event and project coordination. These individuals are needed to assist with live events, manage the Church’s music library, work on hymnbook-related projects, and participate in both paid and volunteer opportunities.

According to project coordinator Corinne Judd, the talent database represents the Church’s efforts to connect with music talent worldwide in ways that were not possible before. The Church aims to not only engage with talent outside of Utah but also explore cultural music styles and non-traditional approaches. This initiative reflects the Church’s commitment to representing a worldwide community in future music projects.

The talent database will play a crucial role in selecting and casting singers for the audio version of the new hymnbook. Additionally, it will be utilized for general conference choirs; broadcasts for various audiences such as children, youth, missionaries, and young single adults; regional devotionals and performances; Temple Square events; church music festivals; commissioned arrangements and compositions; review and feedback of member-submitted works in diverse musical styles; church music library engraving and transcribing; virtual music training and education; as well as feedback on new hymn and song translations.

The Church’s music division is seeking artists at all levels, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced vocalists, instrumentalists, accompanists, composers, and arrangers. Artists of all ages, demographics, cultural backgrounds, and styles are encouraged to create a profile. Performing ensembles such as chamber ensembles, duos, choirs, bands, and family ensembles can submit their profiles as a collective group. The Church welcomes both volunteers and those interested in paid opportunities.

To submit their information, individuals need to create a My Talent Profile, indicating their preferred project types and providing examples of their prior work through shareable links. Relevant professional websites, social media accounts, and YouTube channels can also be included to showcase their talents further. Once a profile is created, applicants can directly apply to projects available on the casting site and will receive notifications about relevant projects matching their criteria.

For more information and answers to frequently asked questions, interested individuals can refer to the dedicated section on the Church’s Music and Casting web page. This opportunity provides talented musicians and performers within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a platform to share their musical gifts, contribute to church music projects, and be part of a global community of artists.
