There’s no better time for new music from The Mellons than the beginning of the winter season. As if to save us all from seasonal affective disorder, Utah’s sunniest bois have answered the call and come through for us yet again. This time, their iconic brand of jangly sonic happiness comes to us in the form of their latest single, “Make Me Feel.”

Released under the esoteric, retro-future record label Earth Libraries on November 28, “Make Me Feel” features the sounds of the 60’s golden era. Falsetto harmonies, tubular bells, harpsichord, and guitar duet all make a glorious appearance. This is the band’s first release since their debut LP, Introducing… The Mellons!, dropped in 2022.
The music video ought to delight Provo, Utah residents. It features a distinct, prominent, iconic Center Street home (you’ll know it when you see it) as the setting for the video. It’s also got a vintage aspect ratio, bright colors, loud patterns, and a whole lotta whimsy.

Vern Tooley was the director of photography for “Make Me Feel.” The sets were designed and painted by Nichole Willoughby.
Though the track is jam-packed with layers, and the video is peak Mellons silliness, they never lose the emotions at the song’s core. Rob Jepson’s lead vocals beautifully capture what the band refers to as “the seasick melancholy of a first love.”
