Aspen Chorale recently announced that they are now accepting open online auditions for a major performance in March of 2024. Aspen Chorale is a large mixed choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) that’s based in Utah Valley. Founded in the Spring of 2022, the group specifically performs sacred choral music with exceptional singers and instrumentalists from all over Utah County.
For their next major performance, Aspen Chorale will present Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God. The work is a dramatic musical portrayal of the final days of Jesus Christ. It’s told through the perspectives of Peter, John, Thomas, Mary and Martha, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Jesus.
Interested musicians can submit auditions for the choir, soloists, and orchestra via online video until January 10th. In-person callbacks will be held for soloists at the beginning of January. Rehearsals will be held every Saturday in Provo and begin January 13th and run through March 9th.

While originally from Mesa, Arizona, Latter-day Saint composer Rob Gardner has deep ties to Provo. He graduated from BYU before completing the University of Southern California’s film and television program. Lamb of God is his landmark oratorio, and one of the most significant contributions to Mormon sacred music in the 200 year history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lamb of God was completed in 2010 and recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra that year. His group, the Spire Chorus, premiered the oratorio live at Gammage Auditorium in Tempe, Arizona in September of 2010. His most widely performed work, over 4,000 performers participate in local Lamb of God productions all over the world each year.
Aspen Chorale’s production of Lamb of God will be March 9th, 2024 at the Covey Center for the Arts in downtown Provo. Musicians can audition online here. Tickets will go on sale next year. Make sure to follow Aspen Chorale on Instagram and check out the opening number of Lamb of God below!
