Over the weekend, two new episodes of WXPN/Philadelphia‘s World Cafe dropped. Since January 18, the World Cafe team has been exploring people, places, and performances from the music scene here in Provo, Utah. The first episode featured pop/rock darlings The Aces. This weekend’s episodes were all about June Audio and Velour Live Music Gallery โ and the people associated with these institutions on 200 block.

The first episode is all about acclaimed audio engineer Scott Wiley’s journey from Provo to LA and why he decided to lay down roots here. His efforts over the past few decades have led to the construction of a massive recording studio in the heart of Downtown Provo. Over the years, June Audio has welcomed world renowned artists like John Legend, The Killers, and Post Malone (to name a few). Among those successful artists are The National Parks, who are also covered extensively in this episode. They’ve always shared a close working relationship with Scott Wiley, who has personally produced their records over the years.
The second episode is all about Velour Live Music Gallery โ a stone’s throw away from June Audio. For those in the Provo music scene, Velour and its owner, Corey Fox, need no introduction. The episode captures live audio from the most recent Cowboys & Indies event. Featured artists in this episode include Sego and The Moth & The Flame. The episode also covers the wild story of the time Corey Fox received a lifesaving kidney transplant from The Moth & The Flame’s frontman Brandon Robbins.
Distributed by NPR to 280 radio stations across the United States,ย World Cafeย exposes nearly 600,000 listeners each week to new music. Make sure to follow June Audio and Velour on Instagram. You can hear the episode about Corey Fox and Velour below.
