OrcaMind has one of the more unconventional origin stories of the Utah music scene. Its members are from disparate corners of the country but met through YouTube as creators specializing in making lyrics around video game music. Three years ago, the members of the band moved to Utah and began finding success streaming their music on Twitch. As the Twitch streams progressed, the songs evolved from toplining existing video game music to completely original compositions.

They played their first open mic at Velour last February and have grown to love playing live through performances at Velour, including playing the recent Slumber Party show.

OrcaMindโ€™s shows are a unique experience, blending influences like Alice in Chains, prog rock, indie, and pop-rock sensibilities. Their harmony-driven style also sounds like it would fit well in a Zelda game, while still being rich in synthesizer-infused rock instrumentation. The band relishes in the opportunity to play live and brings fans and new listeners together, so those in attendance at their Les Femmes performance can expect a tight, well-rehearsed band.ย

OrcaMind is playing at Velour on February 23rd. Tickets are on sale now. Make sure to follow OrcaMind on Instagram and listen to โ€œJupiterโ€ from their recent EP below.ย
