Here are five songs from indie artists across the country. Hopefully something here can help spark some new inspiration for you.
Brad Miles โ โEarthโ
Brad Miles is from the great state of Texas and has been performing his entire life. That experience has paid off in his latest solo track, as the vocal performance on this track is what caught our attention. Miles’ voice is phenomenal! While the arrangement is pretty standard, his vocal work and harmonies took this to another level. The lyrics are just as beautiful as the vocals, all about the difficulty of trying to reconcile with someone that has already passed on. This song is a gem that deserves more attention!
Rocky Lane- “I Don’t I Do”
This is another song that was elevated by a stellar vocal performance. Rocky Lane has some serious talent! The guitar was captivating, the organ was tasteful, and the vocal performance completed the song! His tone is perfect, and the edge to his voice adds a layer to the track that keeps us coming back to it. The guitar solo halfway through the song is epic too. This song is going to be on repeat.
Henry Michael โ โBefore You’re Goneโ
Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Henry Michael brings the vibes of the Northeast to us. This track perfectly encapsulates the modern folk/pop vibe. Michael’s vocals straddle the line perfectly between both genres while also being technically proficient. The songwriting here is impressive too; using unique rhythms, like when he sings “running out of breath,” makes the song captivating.
E. James Smith โ โThe Groveโ
For our readers that love The Plastic Cherries and The Mellons, you are going to love this song! This track is a standout, delivering a masterclass in retro-inspired rock. The guitar work is exceptional, showcasing skill and precision, while the production perfectly captures the essence of its era-specific vibe. The harmonica adds a unique, cool touch, and the harmonies are nothing short of stunning. Itโs a song that not only stands on its own but also feels right at home among Utahโs thriving retro-rock scene. Fans of this genre will find plenty to love here.
Brandon Carswell – “Blue”
The song captivates from the opening moments, with its expertly mixed introduction evoking the warmth and charm of a vintage recording. Just when youโre immersed in nostalgia, the track seamlessly transitions into a vibrant, modern mix, creating a dynamic and engaging listening experience. The vocals are standoutโrich, expressive, and undeniably compelling. This blend of old-school ambiance and contemporary energy makes the song a joy to listen to from start to finish.
