YourTrueCaptain is an internet personality, comedian, and provocateur that’s made a name for himself by roasting the bad behavior he discovers on supposedly “anonymous” online sites like Omegle. Hailing from Toronto, his savage takedowns are usually done live on stream.
Things took a turn recently when local Utah alt rock band Hollow Hill encountered YourTrueCaptain online and performed for him. In a video posted to his Instagram and TikTok accounts, it showcases a highly positive interaction between him and the band – but not without some signature YTC roasting along the way.
This clip is a perfect example of YTC’s ability to use tension to instigate unique, engaging, and exciting interactions online. The video is doing numbers. In 4 days, clips from the interaction have already racked up nearly 100,000 views across social media, which is significant as this is one of his first videos to specifically feature a musical act.

This is an offshoot of his wildly successful Omegle video series, which has accumulated millions of views for its tense and hilarious takedowns of blatantly racist behavior in supposedly anonymous online spaces.
“Working with Hollow Hill was fun, easy, and we really hit it off,” he said. “I could see ‘Couldn’t Care Less’ in an anime intro. I grew up on that stuff, so that’s the highest compliment. The fact that it doesn’t have more streams is criminal.”
In addition to hard-hitting content, YTC has built a loyal audience through lighter comedic fare, like his viral sketches about BlockBlast. All told, he has 1.4 million subscribers across platforms.
