Radio3hive has reached its initial Kickstarter goal of $15,000, clearing the way for the new independent radiostation to begin broadcasting terrestrially on FM radio. The milestone will allow Radio3hive to cover launch and lease costs, licensing fees, and other expenses associated with bringing the station to the air.
Radio3hive has also revealed its frequency and call sign: KPUT 92.9 FM. The frequency is currently licensed in Mona, Utah, and operated by North Point Broadcasting, LLC, as the regional Mexican station, La Mejor. Radio3hive will soon take over operation of the frequency. The stationโs official launch date will be announced at a later time.
With its initial goal met, every additional dollar raised through the ongoing Kickstarter campaign will support the construction of a studio above the 3hive store on Center Street in downtown Provo. The future space will allow volunteer DJs to record and broadcast shows, expanding Radio3hiveโs commitment to local, independent, and emerging music.
The Kickstarter campaign will remain open through Labor Day, 2026. Supporters can contribute and receive rewards โ including a commemorative FM radio sticker designed by Utah artist and Little Moon member Nate Hardyman (@wizzy.starman). Radio3hive will also host its Fair to Get On Air event on September 5 from 10 AM to 4 PM at 3hive Record Lounge, featuring DJs, vendors, a raffle, and more.
