TREN is a fascinating group. A product of the BYU School of Music, TREN’s content has been viewed over 200,000 times on YouTube alone. Despite their incredible success and global reach, the band remains relatively under-discussed in the Provo community. It’s time locals start paying attention.
The band consists of vocalists and lyricists Taylor Miranda and Eliza Smith; composer Richard Williams; and multi instrumentalist Nate Young of the band Spirit City. Although Eliza is currently absent (serving a mission for the LDS church in the Philippines), the group continues to write and record original music.
At the heart of this group lies a novel idea: write epic songs for major motion pictures and make the big studios notice through crowd sourcing. That concept has brought them major success. Their song, “Live Or Survive,” was written for Mockingjay – Part 2, the last entry in the Hunger Games. Posted last May, the video has been viewed 171,130 times. Their second song, “Civil War,” was written for Captain America: Civil War and has had similar success.
TREN’s most recent video, an original Christmas song entitled, “My Savior” has now passed 10,000 views – their third video to do so in a year. Indeed, TREN is proving themselves a musical force to be reckoned with.
Check out their Christmas song below. 2:45 gave me chills. Make sure to like them out on Facebook.
