Earlier this week, Wish Granted Records signed Provo synth rock group Kindred Dead. Kindred Dead is the third artist to be officially announced as part of the label behind Belle Jewel and Michael Barrow. Kindred Dead recently completed a mini tour at the beginning of January, hitting Nevada, California, Orem’s Audio West (formerly the Stereo Room), and Kilby Court in Salt Lake City.
Kindred Dead has managed to share the stage with some pretty impressive names. Their show in Loomis, CA was a big one. The band was able to play with The National Parks and Brumby, two groups who sold out Velour earlier this month and packed two straight shows. In the spring of 2015 they opened for the band Parachute to a sold out crowd in BYU’s Wilkinson Center Ballroom.
Wish Granted Records describes Kindred Dead’s brand of synth rock as music with “Glitzy synth riffs, steamy bass hooks, and infectious beats.” [1] Reach Provo is no stranger to Kindred Dead’s music. Earlier this month we reviewed their self-released debut, Nowhere to Go but Up (read the review here) and found it to be a thoughtful, well produced outing.
We’re looking forward to seeing how their association with Wish Granted Records impacts their careers. Wish Granted Records is currently recording with Belle Jewel and preparing for the debut of the as-of-yet unknown Michael Barrow. The label has been eager to sign while keeping everything going on behind the scenes relatively quiet. Let’s see what kind of material they’re able to put out in the coming months.
In the meantime, check out Kindred Dead’s “I’ll Come Around” from their debut EP.
