SVC To Take Off Again June 20th

Provo’s space rock opera is coming back. This time they’re playing a bigger venue at a much larger event.

Last Tuesday, June 7th, Space Venture Coalition announced that a live performance of the rock opera will be shown as part of the 2016 FilmQuest film festival. FilmQuest is Utah’s 2nd largest film festival, based on the number of films shown and the number of days the festival runs. This year, it will run from June 17th to June 25th at the 20-screen Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatre in Sandy, Utah. The Megaplex is located at Jordan Commons – right next to the Rio Tinto Soccer Stadium and the South Towne Exposition center.

FilmQuest is a genre specific festival, catering to horror, fantasy, and Sci-Fi films. This makes a live space rock opera like SVC a perfect fit for the festival. On June 20th, film festival patrons will walk the FilmQuest red carpet in space/sci-fi themed attire before a showing of Space Venture Coalition at 9PM in the Megaplex. Following the show, guests will take part in a space-themed afterparty at 11PM.

Accompanying the performance will be a mini-block of sci-fi themed short films. “If you missed the show, loved the show, or know someone who WOULD love the show, come with us and bring them!” says Jared Gay of Space Venture Coalition.

Tickets are on sale now at the Jordan Commons Megaplex Theatre box office and online. This event is expected to sell out quickly. You can watch their official announcement video below.
