Joy Downer to Headline Final Night of Les Femmes De Velour

Inviting artists from other cities to perform is yet another way this event helps female Provo artists network and find opportunities across the country.

Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist Joy Downer will be headlining the final night of Les Femmes De Velour. Her dreamy brand of synth pop has been featured on prominent Apple Music and Spotify editorial playlists, as well as a commercial for Honda. She also recently wrote the theme song for the new Netflix original series, Spinning Out.

Les Femmes is a two-week celebration of female and female-fronted acts in the Provo music scene. The event originally began in the mid 90’s to inspire female musicians to get more active in the local music community. Velour revived the event in 2010. In the last 12 years it has grown from a one-night event to a seven-night series. Inviting artists from other cities to perform is another way to help Provo artists network and find opportunities across the country – especially when those artists have Provo roots. Joy Downer is actually a Provo transplant to LA, so the local connection is especially strong.

Joy Downer will join local heavy-hitters Jenn Blosil, Faith Marie, and Mia Grace. Jenn Blosil experienced success on the 15th and final season of American Idol on its original network, Fox. Faith Marie is a Provo songwriter who has seen explosive success on YouTube and Spotify, with millions of streams and over 120k YouTube subscribers. Mia Grace is a local favorite in the Dusty Deseret style with excellent songs like “Easier Not To Explain” and “Heartbreaker.”

This is a show you definitely won’t want to miss. Snag your tickets online here before they sell out, and check out Joy Downer’s performance of “Over & Out” on The Late Late Show With James Corden below.
