“We have coordinated the 2022 Songwriter Competition to help shine a light on members of the music community,” says Edison Recording Studio founder Brady Hoggard. “It’s a wonderful opportunity.”

Local songwriters are eligible to enter an original song. Ten applicants will be selected to perform at the 2022 Songwriter Showcase on Friday, October 7, where they will perform for a panel of judges and a live audience. The showcase will be held at Stone Gate Weddings & Events in Pleasant Grove, UT.

The Grand Prize winner will receive 4 hours of studio time plus full song editing and mixing from Edison Recording Studio; a single-song mastering package from Nine Moon Mastering; an artist promotion package from CopyTec; a $50 gift card to Bill Harris Music; a date night package to Water Gardens Theatres; a chocolate truffle assortment from The Truffle Cottage; and a $25 gift card to Mo Bettahs. An Audience Choice winner will also be selected after their performance at the Showcase.

For Hoggard, this is about more than simply winning a competition or recording your music. “It’s an opportunity to produce innovative ideas in a comfortable environment that help you take the next steps in your career.”

Submissions are open until September 24, 2022. The competition is free to enter. For more information, click here. You can check out “Synonym for Risk” by Hoggard’s project Sarraceno below.
