Les Femmes De Velour is an eight-day celebration of female and female-fronted acts in the Provo music scene. To honor these incredible musicians, we’re highlighting one artist from each night.
Self-described as “sacred freak pop,” we honestly can’t think of a better description. To say Little Moon is chamber pop or baroque pop wouldn’t evoke the right images. Lead singer Emma Hardyman’s classical soprano vocals pitch and trill and swoop and soar with the vivacious folk energy of a modern John Jacob Niles, all while provoking existential awe in a captivated audience.
Little Moon recently submitted their song “Wonder Eye” for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest. The performance got the attention of NPR’s editors. Of Little Moon, NPR’s Devon Williams said, “It’s thrilling to see such an assured entry right out of the gate… Hardyman’s angelic voice [floats] above a delicately plucked guitar… For a song about death, ‘Wonder Eye’ is full of life.”
You can catch Little Moon at night 7 of Les Femmes De Velour. That’s tonight, February 25. She’ll perform alongside Libbie Linton, The Penny Candies, and Stephanie Mabey. Tickets are on sale here. Make sure to follow Little Moon on Instagram and stream another one of their tunes called “Dear Divine” below.
