HASHA began in 2018 as the songwritingย project of several siblings of the Hopoate family. In its first few years, the band underwent several lineup changes and stylistic shifts before settling in 2021 into the current arrangement. Fronted by vocalist and principal songwriter Marie Hopoate and supported on keys and vocals by her brother Robert, the rest of the band blends a diverse set of influences and musical training into a sound that is distinct to HASHA. The band has found success playing in venues across the state of Utah โ even getting the opportunity to open for Son Little in 2021.

With the bandโs varied musical tastes, first time listeners can expect a potent blend of R&B, alternative rock, pop, and jazz at any given performance. Rich in personal drama and thoughtful introspection, HASHAโs lyrics allow listeners to easily insert themselves into the sonic and mental world that the band invites them into. The band is made up of serious musicians, and one shouldnโt expect too much banter from the band between songs, but each songโs final chord gives the audience a moment to digest before the band moves swiftly into the next part of the set. The band is excited to share new musical material at their Les Femmes performance. This material will be released throughout 2024.
HASHA will be perform at Velour on February 17th alongside Sabrina Fair, Hana Eid, and Beeson. Tickets are on sale now. Make sure to follow HASHA on Instagram and stream their song โAwayโ below!
