With so much music in the Provo music scene, it’s easy to get sucked in and start listening to music in a bubble. It’s always great to see what awaits you in the broader world of sonic textures, and to find new recommendations that can inspire you to make music differently than you did before.

Many here in the United States have watched eastern Europe closely ever since Russian invaded Ukraine. As a nation that hasn’t had an extended, hot conflict on our soil since the Civil War in the 1860s, most modern Americans can’t comprehend or even imagine the tragedy unfolding overseas.
SUNSAY – otherwise known as Ukrainian singer/songwriter Andrey Zaporozhets – raises his voice with the powerful message of “Enough Is Enough.” He wrote this song while his hometown of Kharkiv was under attack, and hopes that his emotion can convince the world to sue for peace and end violence. In other contexts, the anti-war sentiment may seem trite or overwrought, but his natural talent, coupled with his intense life experience, make this track poignant, authentic, and heartbreaking.

The music video for this captivating song was filmed on the thrilling and colorful streets of Kathmandu in Nepal. Directed by filmmaker Paul McLay, the music video features the symbolic swallow bird, representing liberty and the freedom to soar beyond oppressive restrictions.
SUNSAY’s track hooked me from the very opening seconds. With a beautiful falsetto melody and harmonies, really cool guitar tone, and a great, chilled groove (the bass work on this piece is particularly well done), it’s evident that SUNSAY has the natural talent and has put in years of hard work to hone his craft. I’m in love with his voice. Everyone needs to hear this.
