Since 2011, UK-based indie curator Alex Rainbird has been finding and sharing the finest independent pop, folk, and rock music from around the world. Together with Beth Paterson, their channel has grown to over 1.28 million subscribers.

“Our goal is to provide the best platform for underrated artists to be heard, and for viewers to find amazing new music,” they say. “We feature over 100 incredible new songs every month.”

Provo Music Magazine spoke to Alex Rainbird about his channel back in 2016. At the time, he had just discovered that a disproportionally high number of artists on his playlists were from Provo. Artists like Foreign Figures, Ben Reneer, Cinders, and Michael Barrow & The Tourists. “There must be something in the water over there!” he said.

Recently, alexrainbirdMusic launched alexrainbirdSessions, a live performance video series where artists previously featured on alexrainbirdMusic perform live versions of their best-performing tracks on the channel. Last month, both Cinders and Michael Barrow & The Tourists appeared on the same episode. The two Utah bands performed “Going Nowhere” and “Hey, Hey, Hey” respectively.

You can watch the live performances below. Cinders performs at 18:13, and Michael Barrow & The Tourists performs at 30:12.
