Summer is here, baby! No better time to get out of the house, stretch those legs, and check out the local music happening at shows, festivals, and parties all around Utah. On your way out the door, keep an eye out for the latest print edition of Provo Music Magazine on your doorstep, printed by the amazing Hudson Printing Company.

The June 2024 edition features the work of 12 writers, artists, and photographers, and spotlights the incredible artwork of Provo’s Poster Prince himself, John-Ross Boyce. Check out multiple pages of his work printed in gorgeous full color throughout the ‘zine and catch up on his story.

In addition to JR Boyce, we’ve got highlights on the fantastic work of Rugs Unplugged, a brief recap of The Boardwalk’s Spring 2024 Battle of the Bands, and a bunch of bite-sized album reviews highlighting some of our favorite music over the last few months. There’s never a slow time for Utah music, and the last couple of months have been no exception!

To grab your own (free!) copy of Provo Music Magazine, you can head to The Boardwalk, Velour Live Music Gallery, Java Junkie, Provo’s Vintage Groove, 3hive Record Lounge, Bill Harris Music, June Audio, and many many other shops along Center Street and University Avenue in Provo, at Provo Towne Centre, in The Shops at Riverwoods, along Main Streets in both Springville and Spanish Fork, and at University Place in Orem. We’re meeting you at the spots you already are, and who knows, you might just be one of the lucky ducks to wake up to the mag at your door!

If you don’t want to chance it, you can always support Utah music and have zines shipped straight to your door by subscribing to a year of Provo Music Magazine. It’s less free, but you get the satisfaction of knowing your contribution helps keep local music journalism alive for all to enjoy.

As good as printing a magazine and running a website is, getting the content to people is even more important for helping raise awareness of the talent here in Utah. With distribution being such a big part of the equation, Provo Music Magazine is grateful for the bands who help out by participating in our Work For Music program we mentioned back in February. In exchange for the hard work and dedication of these artists, Provo Music Magazine is footing the bill for their next singles.

Once again, our appreciation goes out to the bands who helped with distributing the April edition: Always Her, Joey Brandin, Hollow Hill (shout out to their new song “PSYCHO“), Harpers (who dropped an album earlier this year), and Tryzlador (whose latest single came out only a few weeks ago).

We also want to thank our sponsors for this month: Taste 117, The Covey Center for the Arts, Grandpa’s Dental Center (check out the inside back cover for two great coupons!), Wolf River MusicGreat Harvest Bread Co. (use code Music24 to buy one loaf of bread and get a second free), Bluerock Medical, and Beadology at The Riverwoods.

Last, but definitely not least, thanks also to all of you, our beloved readers. Now go grab a copy and check out “Surtr” from John-Ross Boyce’s band GLOSSA!
