They may be a pop/punk band, but boy can these fellas get folky.

The Provo Music Magazine Acoustic Sessions are back, baby. Today’s episode features two members of Provo’s very own Hollow Hill. Frontman Mitch Squires and songwriter and guitarist Caleb Browning perform “Hazel Eyes,” a folky tune from their lone acoustic EP Lost But Not Forgotten. “Hazel Eyes” is the most popular song from that record.

The full band consists of Mitch Squires, Caleb Browning, and Owen Ferguson. Hollow Hill’s usual sound sits somewhere between TikTok-era post-indie rock and pop/punk and emo. Their ability to juggle post-indie, heavier rock sounds, and folk made them the perfect candidates as openers on a sold out acoustic tour last October with Citizen Soldier.

This performance was shot live at June Audio, and the audio was engineered and mixed by Mason Winter. Royalties from these acoustic sessions are split equally between the artist, the audio engineers, and Provo Music Magazine. Every time you stream, you support local artists, local studios, and local music journalism. It’s just one innovative way we’re building a sustainable, well funded music industry in Utah.

Today’s episode is brought to you by Taste 117. Taste is one of downtown Provo’s most exciting and sophisticated destinations.
