mynameisntjmack is a force to be reckoned with. Currently on Tommy Richman’s North American/EU COYOTE Tour, the Virginia-rased, Los Angeles-based rapper just released his hotly anticipated mixtape BOOKMARK 2 earlier this week. Tracks from the release are already generating buzz in major publications like Complex, The Fader, and tmrw.

As part of his tmrw interview, mynameisntjmack performed three of his newest songs live in-studio: “Lemon/Ginger,” “american spirit,” and “putback.” The session was recorded live at June Audio in downtown Provo, with Les Femmes de Velour regular Maren Gayle acting as lead audio engineer.

For this performance, mynameisntjmack was also backed by three of The Tourists โ€“ known primarily for their work as part of Michael Barrow & the Tourists. Band members featured in the live performance are guitarist Mac Wright, bassist Alessandro Improta, and keys player Zach Collier.

mynameisntjmack’s latest 10-track offering isnโ€™t just a collection of songsโ€”itโ€™s a raw reflection of his journey from Virginia to LA and navigating the loneliness, success, and self-exploration that come with it. From complex harmonic structures rooted in old soul conventions to boundary pushing new approaches to modern hip hop, the record is for anyone who’s chasing a dream while still being tethered to home.
