Yesterday, Provo singer/songwriter Cherish DeGraaf premiered her new song “Garden of Eden” on Dance Cry Dance Break, the audio magazine of Seattle-based record label Dance Cry Dance. Her song was paired with a heartbreaking story by Timaree Marston called “Solace.” The pairing illustrates the cinematic qualities of DeGraaf’s music in the best way.
DeGraaf signed to Dance Cry Dance last February, and “Garden of Eden” is her first release with the new label. Written and performed by DeGraaf, the song was produced by Jordan Clark and receives wide release tomorrow, May 6.
Today, Provo Music Magazine is pleased to premiere the song’s accompanying music video. Filmed, directed, and edited by Juan Palamino and Dustin Landon, it features lush greenery evocative of the eponymous garden and tells a story of letting go.
“‘Garden of Eden’ is a song about grief and loss,” says DeGraaf. “And a desperate attempt to hope that it gets better.”
