Mel Soul has been writing music for the past 13 years. Her journey as a musician began singing in school choirs and grew into something more serious after her English teacher taught her how to play guitar.

Those unfamiliar with Mel Soulโ€™s live shows can expect a performance that is homey and soothing. As one fan aptly described her sound, it is โ€œnot soul music, but music for the soul.โ€ Those in attendance at her Les Femmes De Velour performance can expect to have their emotional wounds treated with her buttery vocals and the band’s subtle-yet-slick instrumentation.

In the last year, Mel Soul won the Wasatch Mountain Music Festival songwriting contest, opened for Dan Tyminski in Ogden, and opened for Robby Krueger (of The Doors fame) at the Sundance Film Festival. She also just finished the music video for her song โ€œI Am Now,โ€ which will be released soon.

Make sure to follow Mel Soul on Instagram. You can listen to her track โ€œHear Your Prayerโ€ below, and be sure to catch her at Velour Live Music Gallery on February 10th! Tickets are on sale now.
