Oh baby. The new issue of Provo Music Magazine is here. 50,000 brand-spankin’-new copies of Provo music scene goodness as printed by the fabulous Hudson Printing in Salt Lake. This issue features over 14 local writers and photographers.
In the April 2024 issue, we’re sharing our interview with former American Idol contestant turned Grammy nominee Ashley Hess. She wrote one of the world’s biggest contemporary Christian hits of 2023 and landed a national tour all while managing a fierce secular pop career. She’s real cool and we like her.
Our mission at Provo Music Magazine is to raise public awareness of the talent Provo is producing, and to give quality, meaningful exposure to the artists in our growing music community. Printing a zine is one way we accomplish this. Distributing it is another. As we mentioned in February, all of our delivery drivers are members of local bands participating in our Work For Music program. In exchange for the hard work and dedication of these artists, Provo Music Magazine is footing the bill for their next singles.
The February issue was distributed by Always Her (their first single drops April 26) and Del Perro (they dropped a new song on April 6).
We’d like to thank this issue’s sponsors: Fancy Burger (this issue features coupons for 2 great deals!), WorldPlus, Burgers Supreme (bring in a copy of the magazine for $5 off!), Splash Summit (use code PROVO23 at checkout for 10% off single day tickets), Wolf River Music, Gomm Studios, and Great Harvest Bread Co. (use code Music24 to buy one loaf of bread and get a second free), and Schellraiser Music Festival.
In addition to Ashley Hess’s amazing story, their generous support will help spread the word about Emily Bea’s journey from soccer to music; Ferrin’s Battle of the Bands win; plus an abundance of album reviews about local bands you’re gonna to love. These sponsors are also the reason why local bands are making new music this year.
If you would like to pick up a free copy of Provo Music Magazine, you can find them at The Boardwalk, Velour Live Music Gallery, Java Junkie, Provo’s Vintage Groove, Bill Harris Music, in shops along Center Street and University Avenue in Provo, Provo Towne Centre, The Shops at Riverwoods, Main Street in Springville, Main Street in Spanish Fork, and University Place in Orem. If it’s a mall, venue, or a main street in Utah County, we’re there. 40,000 copies will also be going out door to door this time around, so we might end up finding YOU.
If you would like to support Utah music and have zines shipped straight to your door, subscribe to a year of Provo Music Magazine.
Also, as part of a special promotion, MusoSoup is giving artists a discount on their first PR campaign if you sign up through this link. If you’re a Utah band, you can save money on marketing your music to a global audience while supporting your local scene here at home.
