Prepare yourselves boys and ghouls, for spooky season is just over the horizon. While we might still have a bit more time in the summer heat, fall will soon be upon us, bringing with it lovely changing leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and Provo’s very own Halloween music festival extravaganza!
Buzzards and Bees is an annual event that transforms downtown Provo into a celebration of both the incredible musical talent of the area and the spooky silliness of the Halloween season. Last year’s event included over 70 bands at 10+ venues (plus a few secret, limited-entry shows), and 2024 looks to be just as impressive.
Nearly every genre found in Provo is present, from EDM to jazz, and the community gets the biggest treat, no tricks. With the purchase of a single wristband, attendees are granted access to every single band playing the festival, with the only limitation being bands playing at the same time on different stages. This year’s festival will be on Saturday, October 19, with Goth Prom and other events taking place the night before, on October 18.
Just this morning, Buzzards and Bees opened their applications for bands hoping to perform at this year’s festival. The applications will close on August 18, 2024 at 11:59 PM, so interested bands should submit their intent to perform as soon as possible! There are still a few weeks before the deadline, but as Buzzards and Bees says on their Instagram, “there are no second chances in hell.”
Bands and fans alike can follow the Buzzards and Bees Instagram page for the most up-to-date information on the festival, and bands can apply on the Buzzards and Bees website. Best of luck to all prospective performers, and we hope to everyone out in the streets this October! While you get warmed up, check out last year’s compilation playlist!
