Velour Live Music Gallery

This week, Velour Live Music Gallery is celebrating its 20th year of operation.

On Thursday, January 22, catch Eyes Lips Eyes, Kid Theodore, and Can’t Stop Won’t Stop. Doors at 7:30 PM. Get tickets.

On Friday, January 23, Sego, The New Electric Sound, and Chasing Kings will perform. Doors at 7:30 PM. Get tickets here.

On Saturday, January 24, The Moth & the Flame, Parlor Hawk, and Polytype will take the stage. Doors at 7:30 PM. Snag tickets.

Java Junkie

Java Junkie normally has an open mic night every Friday at 7 PM. Free admission.

On Saturday, January 24, catch Lindenfield at their Tearjerk album release show. 7 PM. Free admission.

BYU

The Aspen Winds Quintet will perform tonight, January 20, at 7:30 PM in The Box in the Music Building. Free admission.

This week is the BYU Young Artists of Voice Competition. Round 1 is tonight, January 20, at 7 PM. Round 2 is Thursday, January 22 at 7 PM. Round 3 is Saturday, January 24 at 7 PM. All of these are taking place in the Music Building Recital Hall. Free admission.

On Wednesday, January 21 in the Music Building Recital Hall, catch The Uinta Trio & Friends as they perform Debussy, Ravel, and Brahms. 7:30 PM. Free admission.

On Friday, January 23, Joshua Henry is coming to BYU as part of their Bravo! series. Joshua Henry is a Grammy-winning, Tony-nominated performer best known for roles in Broadway favorites such as Hamilton, Carousel, and Into the Woods. His show, Get Up Stand Up, is a soulful bop through the songs that have moved and grooved us through the decades. Catch him at 7:30 PM in the Music Building Concert Hall. Get tickets here.

ABG’s

ABG’s Bar on Center has music every Friday from 10 PM until last call. On Friday, January 23, catch …AND THEN CAME HUMANS, a two-man jazz/funk group from New Orleans. Shows are 21+. $7 cash at the door. Follow ABG’s on Instagram here.

The Rise

The Rise hosts their weekly Open Mic Nights on Wednesdays at 7 PM.

On Saturday, January 24 at 6:30 PM, catch Jarica Jamison, Daniel Beddoes, and Mikayla Paige. Get tickets here.

SCERA

On Saturday, January 24, catch Red Vinyl: a Utah cover band that plays everything from The Doobie Brothers and Journey to Whitney Houston and Tina Turner. The show starts at 7 PM. Get tickets.

Angelus Theatre

On Friday, January 23, Students from Dave Wilbur’s Rock Lab will make your heads spin with their performing talents in their winter recital. This program has been running for decades and puts out some of the best young musicians in Utah. 6 PM. Get tickets here.

The Pearl On Main

On Saturday, January 24, Provo favorites Avintaquin, Kings and Clowns, Calling Card, and Kaiju Hotline will play. Doors at 5:30 PM, Music at 6 PM. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.

B-Side HiFi

Step into the enigmatic realm of B-Side HiFi, a sonic sanctuary on Center Street above 3hive Record Lounge. Come hear music on a vintage Thorens TD160 MKII turntable, a McIntosh MC275 vacuum tube amplifier, and their exquisite dual speaker setup: The Pioneer Exclusive (TAD) speakers from the 1970s paired with the modern Zu Soul 6 speakers.
