Last week, Salt Lake rockers Citizen Soldier took to social media to celebrate their latest achievement: The group’s newest track, “Burden,” had topped the iTunes US Rock chart and found its way onto several other of the global music marketplace’s charts. According to iTunescharts.net, “Burden” also reached number 30 on the US charts, 53 in the UK, 42 in Canada, and 27 in Australia. (Didn’t expect the land down under to be such fans of Citizen Soldier; the Aussies have great taste!)
The group posted their gratitude for their fans who helped push the track so high on social media last Wednesday, stating, “You did it!ย #1ย on iTunes Rock Chart andย #30ย Top Global ๐ซถ Letโs keep it goingโผ๏ธ”
Although the iTunes charts are only reflective of sales on the digital marketplace and do not include streaming figures from Apple Music or other services within the Apple ecosystem, this is still absolutely an accomplishment worth celebrating. Despite the rise of streaming services, iTunes remains one of the top options for listeners interested in buying digital music. Making your way onto an iTunes chart, let alone topping the rock chart ahead of legends like AC DC or Journey, means that people like your music enough to spend money to buy it instead of only streaming it!
Citizen Soldier has kept themselves busy in 2024 after a wild 2023, doing everything from playing a national tour to headlining mental health awareness fundraisers. Teasers for a European tour next year have fans excited for additional opportunities to see the band live.
