If you’ve been running yourself ragged trying to finish up your Christmas shopping, consider picking yourself up a little gift while you’re hitting up the shops around Provo. All across town you’ll be able to find yourself the free gift of local music, all wrapped up (pun absolutely intended) in the easily digestible December edition of Provo Music Magazine, printed by Hudson Printing Company.
We’ve collected some of the highlights from the last few months of local music to bring you the work of 11 different writers and photographers across the scene. This month’s cover story spotlights Provo’s own June Audio, which recently celebrated five years of recording greatness. Find out about the last five years and how Scott Wiley turned an unassuming house in Provo into a world-class studio that’s hosted The Killers, Post Malone, and more.
On top of that we also have features on Lauren Gruwell’s journey to healing through music, Imagine Dragons taking Velour on tour across the globe, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with up-and-coming indie rockers almost monday. Plus, we’ve got all the bite-sized local album reviews you’ve come to expect and love in our print editions.
You can grab a copy of the December edition of Provo Music Magazine for free at any of the following locations: The Boardwalk, Velour Live Music Gallery, Java Junkie, Provoโs Vintage Groove, 3hive Record Lounge, Bill Harris Music, June Audio, and many many other shops along Center Street and University Avenue in Provo, at Provo Towne Centre, in The Shops at Riverwoods, along Main Streets in both Springville and Spanish Fork, and at University Place in Orem. A major thanks to all of these local businesses for stocking the magazine; we wouldn’t be able to get the word out to the masses without their support!
If it’s too cold to go out on the town, we’ve also got bands delivering magazines door-to-door across town through our Work for Music Program. Special thanks to Joey Brandin and CAYSN for helping with deliveries for October! Instead of waiting for our crew to come by your neighborhood, you can instead guarantee a copy of the newest edition ends up directly in your mailbox by becoming a Provo Music Magazine subscriber! As a cherry on top, subscribers also get the satisfaction of knowing their contributions are helping keep local musicians, journalists, photographers, and other creatives employed.
This monthโs sponsors include Taste 117, Rugs Unplugged, The Covey Center for the Arts, Grandpaโs Dental Center (check out the inside back cover for two great coupons!), Redd Insurance Solutions, and Bluerock Medical. Another round of heartfelt thanks for all of these companies for their continued support of the scene.
Finally, as we head into the holidays, we want to thank all of you, our faithful readers. We can talk about all the local talent until we’re blue in the face, but the fans are doing their part keeping this scene one of the best there is. We see you at shows, sharing our coverage, and helping us right the ship when we occasionally get something wrong. You’re the best, and we couldn’t do this without you.
Now stay warm and go grab yourself a copy!
